Brunei Open Round 1 Pairings (with photo update)

The Round 1 pairings of the Brunei Campomanes Memorial Grandmaster Open 2012 are now up at the chess-results.com server.  8 Malaysians are playing in this event with 2377-rated IM Mas Hafizulhelmi leading the way.

The other Malaysians are Yeoh Li Tian (2044), Zaidan Zulkipli (2066), Fong Yit San (2002), Fong Yit Ho (2001), William Lee Kah Howe (1777), Dilwen Ding The How (1739) and unrated 11-year old Benjamin Lee Kah Teng.

Yit San, Yit Ho & William are up against GM opponents in Round 1. Yit San meeting GM Vakhidov (2481), Yit Ho facing GM Bitoon (2455) and William up against GM Sriram Jha (2406). Dilwen meets IM Steven Yap (2405) while Bejnamin meets FM Turqueza (2273). Wishing these boys well in their games.

Mas, Li Tian and Zaidan being higher seeded, face unrated Brunei players. The opponents are of unknown strength but the Malaysian boys are expected to win their respective games.

  3. Mas, Li Tian and Zaidan have won. Yit San, William & Dilwen lost. No results yet on Yit Ho's and Benjamin's games.
